SNAD

We heard of SNAG (Sensitive New Age Guy). But do you know that we have SNAD too? Of course we do! FYI, I am quite a good example of SNAD (Sensitive New Age Dog).

I am sensitive internally and externally. Being emotionally sensitive, I listen attentively to those woes or grandmother stories by the humans (though I might doze off in the midst at times). I show my concern by being a quiet dog in their laps (which can be quite a nice resting area). When someone is outside the house, I 'call out' to them to show my acknowledgement of their presence. You can't possibly feign ignorance. That is rude, you know. And when I am not feeling good, I give a 'hint' to indicate DO NOT DISTURB. I usually do not like showing an outburst of my displeasure. Most will get the hint and they will stay away to give me some timeout. Except for that thick-skulled Wynn Wynn. *Sighz*

As for being sensitive externally, the humans always say they have never seen such a skin sensitive dog like me. Well, I guess that is a compliment. :)

Our Detox Results

After a week of raw diet, we are proud to announce we are still SURVIVING! And the next best thing is we can eat chicken after all! Isn't life great? :))

As for our detox results, here's the checklist:

  • Bowels - Luckily we have no diarrhoea so far. In fact, we do not poo much. I am 'releasing' mine on alternate days while Frankie does his 'big business' like in every 2,3 days. Each poo amount is little but SUPER SMELLY! The colour looks weird too. It has 3 colours - black, brown and white! Isn't that amazing? Anyway, MM has decided to give us more veggies in the next meal, in case we are having constipation. :P

  • Breakout - No rashes, no flakes, no pus *touchwood*. But Frankie still scratches here and there at times. Though he is not hurting himself, he is still under observation for any severe scratching. Itchy skin is one detox symptom too. However, as Frankie has always been like that, he might have done it habitually.

  • Bad Breath - MM checks our teeth and smells our mouths. Maybe with the aid of more chewing, my teeth has become cleaner! MM said our mouth breath is within acceptable range. Heehee...

For now, though we seem to doing ok on raw diet, it is still too early to tell. Thus everything has to be continued under check. However, we tend to feel more hunger pangs nowadays. MM used to feed us twice per day (TWICE leh!). Perhaps due to the needed extra caution in handling raw food, lazy MM decided to feed us once per day. In that case, shouldn't MM give us 30%, instead of 3% food amount of our body weight?

I smell food...

U mean it's mealtime?!!

Go BARF

Yes, today is the day. MM said we would start on a new diet today, which is known as BARF (Biologically Appropriate Raw Food). Huh? What's that? The name sounds strange to our ears, but Wynn Wynn and I believe it must be something goodie. Furthermore being a modern adventurer, we always welcome any food idea! Ok, most importantly, the food must be edible and nice... :)

For a start, MM prepared a variety of vegetables and blended them into a errr... a bit weird green mixture (Yucks!). Next, she chopped different raw chicken parts into some sizes and shapes, weighed them as according to a calculated ratio before packing them up into individual ziploc bags. Due to our low activity level, MM decided our daily food intake shall be 3% of our body weight. Each packet of meat and bones would make up 60% of our meal. The remaining 40% would be vegetables and offals. But as we were going to switch over to BARF cold turkey, MM would not include offals right away. She wanted our individual body system to get used to raw food first. We see, we see.... *Nod nod*

Well, let's take my current weight (4.8 kg) as an example:

Meal amount per day
= 3% x 4.8
= 0.14 kg

Amount of RMBs (Raw Meaty Bones) in the meal
= 60% x 0.14
= 0.086 kg ( which consists of 60% meat and 40% bones)

Hmmm... in that case, wouldn't Wynn Wynn be eating MORE than me?!?!!!!! *Pouts*

Different greens, one yellow and one white... ready to be CRUSHED!

Our weekly supply of blended green food

Lastly, it's ATTACK TIME! Yoghurt was served as an appetizer. When the main course came, MM handfed us the bones (chicken back and wing) first. Surprisingly, Wynn Wynn and I handled that very well. We had passed the first test with flying colours! Heehee...

Our new raw diet - with a healthy doze of fish body oil, vitamin E and C

Well done!

Well, though everything seemed to be going smoothly, the next critical test would be the detox results. Due to that, MM had also decided to stop giving us our weekly soup in the meantime. We heard that the most common symptoms of detox include vomiting, LS, bad breath and itchy skin. Hmmm... hopefully we would overcome all possible hurdles. Jia you, JIA YOU!!!

Spring Cleaning Time!

MM is quite a spontaneous person. One moment she was looking at us playing with our toys, the next moment she just stood up and said,"Ok, it's high time to wash these toys! Look at all the drool on them..." Hence, MM 'chop chop' took away all the toys, including those that were 'suffering' in our mouths. Not that we are complaining here... but shouldn't MM pick the right moment to wash the toys? Hey, we were having lots of fun earlier on! What a damper! :((

Luckily it was a sunny Saturday. In no time, our toys were washed and totally sunned. Yes, they are smelling fresh and feeling clean now. But but... our spittle smell is GONE! *SOB*

What A Friday!

We were supposed to go for our some-monthly grooming at Pawws Image this morning. However, Auntie Joanna called to cancel the session as something urgent cropped up in last minute. MM was a bit disappointed for she had to change her plans for the day, but both Wynn Wynn and I were extremely happy! HURRAY HURRAY!!! No grooming today! However, our happiness was short-lived. After studying our dirty and messy looks, MM decided to give us her own version of mini grooming and bathing instead. Sighz... so disappointing... I thought the Lunar calendar mention it was unlucky to bathe and cut hair (furs) today?

After a long, almost 4-hours of 'torture', both Wynn Wynn and I were clean, neater and smelling great again! But MM was almost all wet and tired! Hmmm... this is quite funny. When we transformed from being dirty to cleansed, the humans would be totally opposite - they actually became wet, sweaty and smelly! No wonder groomers charge quite a sum for just bathing a dog. It is hard work after all. MM should learn to open 1 eye and close 1 eye. She does not have to do such hard work every week. Much water and electricity will be saved too. But most importantly, WE will be happier! Being happy-always is important!!! :)

ProDen PlaqueOff Animal

MM bought us a new oral care product, ProDen PlaqueOff Animal, about 2 months ago. Why is it mentioned till now? No no, it is not due to our laziness to update that in our blog. That is because we can finally see some results after all these while!

~ Pic taken from freshbreathonline.com ~

Actually the product is more for me, than for Frankie. The condition of my teeth got worse after a few months of HCF. Though MM did brush our teeth daily and diligently, only Frankie's set of pearlies was managed to stay sparkling clean and white. Sighz... Please do not ask me why. I am as puzzled as everyone. And please do not forget, I actually suffered MORE for MM would tend to brush my teeth longer and harder! *SOB*

Today, I am finally being saved from that ordeal. Ever since I was given ProDen PlaqueOff Animal daily, my teeth condition got better each week. Though they are still not perfectly white, my teeth is no longer VERY yellowish or brownish. Even Dr Chua verified my teeth and gums are healthy in our last checkup! YEAH!

Another best thing is that ProDen PlaqueOff Animal is a completely natural product. It contains a special type of seaweed which is harvested from the seas of Norway and Iceland. Other than being rich in iodine, it also consists of many different vitamins and minerals. So far Frankie and I have not reacted negatively to the product (which MM is most glad!). As what the product has claimed, our tartar and bad breath are controlled quite significantly. Finally, we do not need to brush our teeth daily now. MM is also happy there is another safer option to replace teeth scaling. *Whew*

It must be a very boring Sunday. The humans were so bored that they started to entertain themselves with crappy stories that both Wynn Wynn and I could not understand at all.
